Do you remember when we built that treehouse? It was a neighborhood event.
Do you remember having races down the sidewalk? When it got serious, everyone would take off their shoes, resulting in holes in the socks.
Do you remember, in the summer, hanging out at the park all day? Everybody would be there.
Do you when we were playing football in the street and Spider ran into a parked car and broke his leg?
Do you remember going to the movies and sitting through the picture at least two times?
Do you remember the Elk’s Drum & Bugle Corp marching down 4th Avenue, and everyone would run out to see them as soon as they heard the drums?

Do you remember hitching rides on the back of the city busses?
Do you remember when those dogs were chasing us down the alley, and Dex jumped in a garbage can and pulled the lid on?
Do you remember stealing apples from “That Man’s” tree in his back yard, and then having apple fights with Scotty, Les, and them, from across the street?
Do you remember how much fun it was to go downtown?
Do you remember how we all looked up to the neighborhood legends?
Do you remember the dances they used to have at the park?
Do you remember getting penny candy at Ben Franklins’s Five & Dime store? You could get a whole bag of candy for fifty cents.
Do you remember going ice skating at the park, in the winter? We’d be down there for hours, no matter how cold it was.
Do you remember when Porky and Sherondica were trying to teach us the Southside Shuffle to “Soulful Strut,” and Ronnie kept messing up the steps?
Do you remember riding bike all day? There’d be about twenty of us riding, and making a day of it.
Do you remember going to the Dairy Queen after school and getting a hamburger with everything on it?
Do you remember staying out way past your curfew, and trying to come up with a believable excuse so your parent’s wouldn’t ground you for life.
Remember when it seemed like almost everybody was working at McDonald’s or Burger King.
Remember going through the whole school year, and finding out that someone you thought couldn’t stand you, actually had a crush on you? Really?
