Taking My Ball

Katrina was mad! Dewey, he could go kick rocks. Chump! She could play as good as any of those guys at the park. She had proved it time and time again.

Katrina had loved basketball ever since she was a young girl, and she was good. She made All-City last year in the girls high school league, and she was just a sophomore. At the park, she played against the boys all the time. That’s one of the reasons why she was so good.

Today though, when she went down to the park, Dewey was acting stupid, saying she couldn’t play with them, because she wasn’t good enough. That was garbage. “If you don’t think I’m good enough, why don’t you play me one on one.” She challenged him. Of course, he backed down, saying that he would feel bad for beating a girl. She grabbed her ball out of his hand, and stormed off, amid shouts of protest. “It’s my ball.” She thought to herself. “If I can’t play, then nobody can. Later for them!”
